Random Acts of Kindness

Kindness Makes the World Go Round.

When we look around the world, especially if we turn on the news, there seems to be so much division and negativity. But we have to remember, even if it doesn’t seem like it sometimes, people are more caring and loving than we realize. Sometimes we just get lost in society and just go with the flow. But if we step out of that wave of conformity, we’ll realize that the world is actually a wonderful place, and we have the power to make it even better.

Below are some examples and websites to help us get through a rainy day, or when we want to do something nice for someone, just because, or even when we need a gentle reminder that kindness and compassion is still prevalent all around us.

In 2017, a little girl helped brightened strangers’ days with random notes she handed out to them. One of the notes, received by a woman named Louise Sharp, read: “These are for you.” The “these” she was referring to was a bunch of daffodils and a chocolate bunny, which the little girl gave to Sharp. Touched by the girl’s sweet gesture, Sharp asked her why she did it. “Because you’re special, and people need to be told they’re special. We all need to be kind to each other. So these are [from] me and my Granddad,” she replied, according to Woman’s World magazine.

At the age of 21, Lyle was informed that a 28-year-old man with leukaemia was in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Despite having a promising future career as a track and field athlete ahead of him, Lyle didn’t hesitate when given the chance to save someone else’s life.

He sacrificed the opportunity to continue competing in athletics at university in order to save a stranger.

“It’s just a sport,” he told ABC News. “Just because it’s Division I college level doesn’t make it any more important.

“Life is a lot more important than that, so it was pretty easy.”

Fact checking is extremely important. I want to reiterate not to take everything at face value; no matter what you read, where you read it from, or who you hear it from. And to be clear, do not rely on “fact checking” websites to give you accurate information either. These are just as likely, (if not even more likely…), to feed false information and false debunking accounts to manipulate the reader. Please take everything into consideration before adhering to a certain narrative – and always keep your mind open to other possibilities.
