I want to emphasize that in some cases, yes, I agree that some content should not be allowed on these platforms.
However. If one were to take even just a quick glance at some of the videos and channels that are being deleted, one thing becomes abundantly clear. There is a specific type of content that is being targeted.
Many people allege that it is only those that speak of inciting hate speech, or violence, spreading “false information”, etc. But that is not (always) the case. Due to youtube being a private platform, it ultimately comes down to a personal vendetta. And a personal goal.
Since they are a privately owned platform (supposedly), they have the “rights” to pretty much delete any videos/channels/content, etc. that they wish. Whether it’s in violation of their terms or not. That being said, perhaps because they want to remain in good public standing, they will give a reason, however ludicrous or not, as to why they are doing so. Whether it’s because the content offended a group of people, mentioned “misinformation” (which is being decided for us, I should add), could incite violence – which, to be honest, pretty much any video could incite violence depending on how one looks at it. So their reasoning could just be a pretense just to get you off their platform.
The larger question, however, is to ask yourself ‘why’? Why a certain channel? What were the videos about? Was it really because these so-called videos were “harmful” content? Or is there a more, perhaps, sinister reason to keep the truth hidden?
